Community Guidelines
Ko exists to give Tamil Nadu citizens an organised way to surface constituency-level civic problems and hold their MLAs accountable. The only way that works is if every post is rooted in something specific and verifiable. These guidelines are the bar.
What good posts look like
- Specific. A pothole on Anna Salai near junction X, not “roads are bad”.
- Photographic. Photos are required so others can verify.
- Constructive. What's broken, who is affected, and ideally what should change.
- Civil. Disagreement is welcome. Personal attacks are not.
What gets removed
- Anything illegal under Indian law.
- Defamation: false statements of fact about identifiable persons or organisations.
- Hate speech, calls for violence, or content that incites communal disharmony.
- Sexual or graphic content; doxxing (sharing private information without consent).
- Mass-coordinated posting, bot activity, vote manipulation, brigading.
- Misinformation presented as fact, including AI-generated images that are not labelled as such.
- Election-period violations: campaign content during the EC silence period (48 hours before polling).
- Spam, off-topic content unrelated to Tamil Nadu civic affairs, or commercial promotion.
Fact-checking and corrections
If you spot an error in MLA profile data (which we aggregate from public sources cited on each profile), submit a correction to the Grievance Officer with the source. Verified corrections are applied; unverifiable claims are not.
Resolution flow
A post can be marked “resolved” in two ways: (1) the author marks it themselves, or (2) other users request resolution and an admin approves the request. Posting false “resolved” markers — your own or as a community pile-on — is a violation of these guidelines.
Anonymous mode
Anonymous mode hides your name and avatar from public view, but does not anonymise you to admins. We retain the ability to attribute any action to a specific account for moderation and lawful disclosure.
Reporting
Use the “Report” action on any post or comment. For urgent issues (impersonation, doxxing, threats, child-safety concerns), contact the Grievance Officer directly.
Consequences
First violation: warning + content removal. Repeated or severe violations: temporary or permanent account ban, including IP-level blocks where the abuse warrants it. Bans for child-safety violations, threats of violence, or other criminal content are immediate and irreversible, and we cooperate with law enforcement as required.
